SCHUBERTH AND SCHUBERTH

The plan is for a detached house based on tra­di­tion­al court­yard hous­es in the Vien­na Woods. It is designed for a cou­ple from the cul­tur­al sec­tor with an affin­i­ty for books and gar­den­ing. The ensem­ble con­sists of a com­pact, bun­ga­low-like main house and a sep­a­rate out­build­ing. Nature is delib­er­ate­ly inte­grat­ed as part of the archi­tec­tur­al con­cept — inspired by old, dilap­i­dat­ed build­ings where nature is slow­ly gain­ing the upper hand. Plants are allowed to over­grow the build­ing and take over over time.
